A BIG SHOUTOUT!
On January 25, Alabama held its first-ever Alabama Sport and Adventure Hall of Fame in Dothan. Mike Schmitz founded the ASA to honor everyday people who have made a positive impact in their communities by inspiring people to get active. Among those inducted were James Wells and the Southeast Alabama Mountain Bikers for the creation of the Forever Wild Trails and who continue to assist with trail maintenance, as well as Kim Meeker who was instrumental in the development of the Westgate Tennis Center and the Dothan Forever Wild Trails.
We cannot thank you enough for all you have done for this community and continue to do!
Dothan has a new bike shop in town. Brickyard Bike Co. opened its doors on February 22, 2022. They are a Trek dealer that provides certified professional service and expertise. They are currently located at 1748 Ross Clark Circle across from the farm center.
NEW FEATURE! A gap jump has been built along Connector A east of the log skinny. Also, the SAMS MTB group was able to secure donations for a brand-new pump track that will begin construction on March 1. I am sure y’all have seen the many mounds of dirt.
Maintenance Corner
You need to regularly check the torque of the hardware on your bikes. It is best to use a quality torque wrench to prevent damage as over-tightening can crack components or frames. It is best to reference the owner’s manual for proper specifications. The manual also will determine the use of lock tight/grease for individual fasteners and components.
